Living room (also known as lounge) is a room where people sit, talk, watch TV or just relax. Living room is also known as drawing rooms (commonly used to have guests) in some parts of the world. Usually the drawing room is the most well kept room in the entire house, to the extent that some people abandon the room altogether (to keep it clean and tidy), and use it only when the guests arrive. It is also the most lavished room in the house, subjected to renovations and decorations quite often. However, expensive furniture and pricey antiques are not the only way to refurbish your living room.
The first thing that you need to remember, when redesigning living room is that the living room often reflects the owner’s personality. If you’ve been to the lounge of some painter or any other visual artist, you must have noticed that the overall design, colors and furniture reflects their extraordinary aesthetic sense. However, you don’t really need to try and bring out your creative side when designing the living room (especially if you’ve got none). In most cases, some simple changes in paint color and furniture will do the trick. Just remember that even if the room is mostly used to entertain guests, you shouldn’t compromise on your own likes and dislikes, for the reason that guests will spend not more than few hours in the room, it’s actually you who’ll be spending most of the time in this space.
If you are looking to redesign your living room, we can safely assume that either there’s something wrong with the current settings (that’s the reason you are looking to redesign) or you are just bored by the current appearance, and you are looking to have a change. Whatever the case, you should start from the wall paint, since all other features including carpet, furniture and decorations must compliment the color of walls. When looking to redesign, do not just throw out old furniture and bring in the new one, you can simply reorganize (adding or removing a couple of items) to add more comfort to your living room. Keep the comfort factor in mind when purchasing new furniture, do not go solely for style and look. Furniture is not meant for decorating purpose, there are plenty of items made merely for that purpose; therefore the primary reason and the deciding factor for buying a piece of furniture should be comfort and utility.
